The Ferris House project was my project for most of my first semester as a senior. I was planning on it only being a few months, but many challenges came up. I designed this first house to be the one for the construction class and I to build. First there were a few changes to the overall dimensions of the house to fit into the shop. Then the crawl space opening was put into the wrong spot on the house. I then drew a whole new drawing so that we could access the crawl space from under the stairs. That drawing did not take a long time to do because all I had to do was flip the stairs the opposite direction. The construction class is now done with the first floor and everything is going well. My drawing then got lost in the file system and deleted eventually, so now I am in the process of redrawing everything so that there is still a copy to show for my work. Although this project has been taking up alot of my time, I think it was a good experience to show deadlines and how bumps in the road come up and I learned how to work hard and overcome them. I also learned a lot about how a house comes together. All of the parts of the house and how to build it. I feel so much more confident as an architect now that I have worked in the construction side of view as well as the drawings.
